As Americans turn to healthy eating options and ways to add low calorie, high protein dishes to their diet; seafood restaurants are gaining in popularity. Woodland Hills has a number of highly rated seafood restaurants for you to choose from. But, before you head out to your favorite seafood restaurant here is a quick guide to the best restaurants and tips on ordering seafood and which wine to pair it with.

Fish and Wine Pairings

Cod is a mild, flaky, white fish and is perfect for non-fish lovers. Pair it with a crisp dry wine like a chilled Chablis.

Scallops are sweet and mild and can be prepared a number of ways, pan-seared and bacon wrapped scallops are two popular choices. With a texture similar to lobsters and crab and are perfect for grilling, searing and in soups, stews and risottos. A crisp, dry wine like Sauvignon Blanc is a perfect match for scallops. (PS, they are a shellfish)

Tuna is a popular and versatile fish that is typically served raw or rare. A good Pinot Noir is a perfect match for the meaty texture of tuna.

Shrimp comes in a variety of sizes and is sweet and mild and can be seared, made into a scampi, fried or be part of a seafood soup or stew. The sweetness of Riesling make this wine perfect for pairing with shrimp.

Lobster; whether it is Maine lobster or a Pacific coast lobster, this rich and delicious crustacean can be served steamed or as part of a casserole. It pairs perfect with a light red or an oaky, buttery Chardonnay.
