Labor Day weekend is the last unofficial day of the summer (it actually ends on September 22nd) ; the kids (or you) are back to school and the temperatures will gradually cool so you want to do something fun this Labor Day to bid farewell to summer. You may think that you have to travel far or host a party and while those are fun, they can be tough on the wallet, instead try these ideas and take in that one last breath of summer:

Pot Luck BBQ

Instead of hosting a party and doing all the work yourself, why not organize a potluck barbecue. Call up your friends or neighbors in your apartment complex and throw a barbeque. Ask friends to bring their favorite dish and fire up the grill, put on some music and enjoy the last days of summer with friends.

Home Improvement Project

Week days are filled with commuting back and forth from work, lugging kids back and forth to practice or school, studying or other obligations and those home improvement projects never get done. Why not take advantage of the long weekend to tackle one of those projects. Maybe it is organize your closet, paint a piece of furniture or rearrange furniture. Just be sure to celebrate your accomplishments when you are finished.

Staycation

Planning a staycation can be fun. Stay home this Labor Day and enjoy the sparkling pool or BBQ and picnic area. Purchase a book, put away the phone and computer and relax with a glass of wine, beer or iced-tea. Take in one of the many parks in or near West Hills:
