Nobody likes a dirty bathroom, but finding the time to get (and keep) it clean isn’t easy. Here are some tips from experts on how to clean your bathroom (fast).
- Have all of your bathroom cleaning supplies ready before hand. Store them in a bucket or other container that makes them easy to access.
- Start with the showerhead. Experts recommend cleaning it twice a month with an all-purpose cleanser, then wipe with a sponge. Clean the nozzle with white vinegar every two to three months by pouring white vinegar in a plastic bag then securing the bag around the showerhead with a rubber band. Let it soak overnight then remove the bag and scrub the nozzle with a brush. Rinse it before you use it.
- Next clean the shower liner or shower door. This should be done twice a month by simply spraying the liner with a cleaning spray with bleach (vinegar and/or hydrogen peroxide are non-bleach alternatives). Work from the top down, cleaning both sides, then rinse. If you have a shower door, follow the same procedure, but use a squeegee to wipe down after getting suds upped.
- Clean the tub. Shut the door or curtain and run the hot water for a few minutes to steam up the bathroom and loosen dirt and grime. Wipe down the tub with a soft scrub brush and an all-purpose cleaner. If you have grout, rub in some backing soda with a dry grout brush and rinse.
- Don’t forget the sink. Spray the knobs, faucet base, counter tip with a disinfectant spray and let sit for at least 10 minutes. Next wipe it down with a clean sponge. Use and old toothbrush or a grout brush to get stubborn soap scum from faucets.
- Clean the mirror once a week. Choose a multi-purpose cleaner that works on glass. Spray and wipe down. Buff it dry with a microfiber cloth for a clean shine.
- Don’t forget the ventilation fan. A few times a year, you should take the time to clean out your ventilation fan as it can harbor mold and other bacteria. Switch off the circuit breaker and suction the grill with a vacuum. Remove the cover and rinse it in warm water. Wipe down bulbs with a microfiber cloth and vacuum fan blades and surrounding parts before replacing the cover.
- Toilet and Toilet Brush. Squirt the inside of the bowl and under the rim with a disinfectant. Let it stand for 10 minutes, then scour with a toilet brush. Next run a disinfectant wipe around the outside including the handle and under the lid. Don’t forget the toilet brush, it is best to use disposable ones for sanitation, submerge the brush in the clean toilet (filled with disinfectant) and flush a few times, give the brush a good shake before replacing in the holder.
- Waste Can. Be sure to clean the waste can once a week by spraying with a disinfectant inside and out. Let it stand and clean thoroughly. Using waste can liner bags is a good sanitary solution.
- Lastly clean the floors. Vacuum up hair and dirt and then fill a bucket with hot water and an all-purpose cleaner that is safe for your floor. Use a mop to clean the floor.
These tips should help you keep your bathroom in your Woodland Hills apartment clean.
