October or as some call it Funtober is the month where we typically say goodbye to the hot weather and settle on in to cooler weather while we prepare (or pray) for winter’s rain. October is the time for haunted houses, fall festivals, Oktoberfest and pumpkin picking. We have provided a list of some fun things to do this weekend, after all it is Funtober in Woodland Hills.
Rise of the Jack-O-Lanterns is a great way to spend a cool October night. Located at 1418 Descanso Drive in La Cañada Flintridge, CA the event boasts over 5,000 hand carved illuminated jack o lanterns created by professional artists and sculptures. Enjoy this luminary spectacular as you stroll along a walking trail while listening to music produced exclusively for the 2015 RISE. The event runs through October 30th. http://www.therise.org/
The LA zoo is hosting Boo at the Zoo with spooky caves, a graveyard safari, pumpkin carving, animal feeds, spooky characters and a Boneyard education station. Kids are invited to dress in costumes. The event goes through October, check out the LA Zoo website for more details.
The Village which is directly across the street from the Westfield Topanga features aFarmers’ Market with the best seasonal produce from local California farmers. Buy a pumpkin or a mum, pick up some locally grown kale or purchase cut flowers, bakery goods, arts and crafts and more. The market is from 9am – 1pm and is a great way to spend an October, oops, I mean Funtober Sunday.
If listening to Oom-Pah-Pah and polkas are more your style then check outOktoberfest in Alpine Village in Torrance.
