If you are new to Southern California then you are in for a treat this holiday season and that is because when it comes to lights, Californians do it right! Maybe it is to make up for the lack of snow or to somehow compensate for our Christmas trees being Palm trees instead of Spruce or Fir, we are not sure, but one thing we are sure of is that Southern Californians do Christmas BIG!
To prove our point we have gathered a list of the best decorated houses or neighborhoods near your Woodland Hills apartment.
Candy Cane Lane Woodland Hills – Since 1952 residents in Woodland Hills (Lubao Avenue and Oxnard Street) near Pierce College have a friendly competition to see who can outdo their neighbors with the best Holiday decorations. Each year 8 blocks delight visitors with a celebration of lights, music, figures and artificial snow. Recent years include lights synchronized with music. You can visit “Candy Cane Lane” from the 2nd weekend in December through New Year’s. It gets crowded and neighbors ask that you leave by 10pm.
Lights on Display Sherman Oaks – Since 1999 Sherman Oaks resident Mike Ziemkowski has been delighting children of all ages with his Lights on Display holiday spectacular at his home in Sherman Oaks. Each year it gets bigger and brighter as he adds computer controlled lights, new displays and holiday figures. For more information check out his facebook page for more info.
Lights on Display starts on Friday, November 27, 2015 and runs until January 1, 2016.
Happy Holidays – it’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas!
